My name is Kris, I’m a 29 years old English teacher, working in ALU7. I was born in Norway, and when I was young I was a bright and active child who easily gained new knowledge and picked up new abilities. In short, I loved learning. Unfortunately, this had a negative side, as I never really felt challenged and often experienced boredom in the classroom. I didn’t focus on my homework, and instead directed my curiosity to activities outside of school, such as sports, music and arts.

As I grew older, I started to travel to other places away from home； new cities, new countries, new continents. And I discovered, I could learn a lot about other people, their history, their language and their culture by travelling. This experience is best summed up in one of my favorite quotes: “行万里路胜读万卷书“ – It’s better to travel a thousand miles, than to read a thousand books.

My love for travel eventually brought me to China, where I started teaching English. I’ve since worked with children of all ages, from kindergarten to high school, and I’ve found that no matter their age, it’s important to keep them interested in the subject they are learning. Based on my own experience as a young student, my goal as a teacher is to make learning fun, yet challenging, and make sure that no student is bored in my classroom – no matter their level.
